What other Monsters could be in Godzilla 2014???

Comic-Con had a lot of things to show and tell, like the Avengers 2 title and a Batman-Superman crossover film, but one of the biggest movies to make an appearance is definitely the biggest cultural movie monster of all time, Godzilla!

Last time an American-made Godzilla movie was made was in 1998. And it sucked so bad that all Kaiju films, heck even the Cloverfield monster, laughed at that giant raptor ripoff. However Director Gareth Edwards has a ton of promise, and seems even more than dedicated into bringing the true king of monsters back to the silver screen.

For one thing Godzilla looks like Godzilla, thank goodness, and this time he is even going to be the biggest he has ever been! Apparently they took time to play around with his height in order to make him the perfect size, even before they began filming!

This statue of Godzilla (displayed at Comic-Con 2013) is said to be what Godzilla will look like in the new film

Combine the two posters for the big picture!
However, as cool as Godzilla is he won't be just destroying buildings. He'll have to fight off a platoon of other monstrous... well monsters. It was originally expected to only have two other monsters but now it's confirmed that many monsters, new and old, appear in the film! Other than new monsters appearing (which is very likely) what original classics do you think will appear in the film?

I have made a list of rumored, likely, and unlikely monsters that can or can't appear...

NOTE: these opinions are mine and are not the opinions of every member here, you do not have to agree with my claims.

THESE MONSTERS ARE STRONGLY RUMORED TO APPEAR:
These ones are said to have appeared on a special teaser trailer that those lucky enough to go to Comic-Con have seen. One in particular is only strongly rumored and may be just that...

KAMACURAS
Kamacuras (called Gimantis in the American version) is a big Insectoid monster that resembles a giant Praying Mantis. Three of these first appeared in the "Son of Godzilla" film where they battled Godzilla himself and Kumonga due to threatening Godzilla's newborn infant. However a fourth Kamacuras lives to fight again in "Godzilla: Final Wars". The creature also appears in "Godzilla's Revenge" and "Godzilla vs Gigan" as stock footage.

This creature has been said to appear in the Comic-Con footage shown. However it has not been confirmed yet by the Director or anyone who has part in the film.

KUMONGA
A giant arachnid Kaiju that would easily scare my cousin. This monster appeared in "Son of Godzilla" as the main antagonist, it however becomes a relatively good monster during its role in "Destroy all Monsters". It even helped to battle and defeat King Ghidorah but sadly became an enemy again in "Godzilla: Final Wars" where he was tossed into the air by Godzilla and never seen again.

This creature was said to appear in the Comic-Con footage as well. While not mentioned by name it is said that Godzilla battles a spider-like creature in the teaser. (its American name is Spiega)

HEDORAH
Also known as the Smog Monster, Hedorah is an Alien Kaiju made from spores and pollution waste. This creature is a powerful enemy against Godzilla, it is immune to Atomic breath and is able to shape its body into literally anything and adapt to any environment. It also recharges its powerful acid blasts by absorbing more pollution. Hedorah has appeared in many forms of Godzilla media and is considered one of the most famous monsters.

The big rumor about this guy is that he is not only in the new film but will also be the main enemy that Godzilla will battle. This kind of makes sense due to the films synopsis that reveals man will be responsible in creating the monsters Godzilla battles. And seeing as how this film sees Godzilla as a force of nature, something to punish man for wrong doings, why wouldn't Godzilla want to destroy a beast mainly made of human waste?

THESE MONSTERS ARE LIKELY TO APPEAR:
Monsters that have a pretty good to pretty strong chance of making an appearance in this particular film.

DESTOROYAH
Usually known as "Destroyah" or simply "Destroyer", Destoroyah is similar to Hedorah because he starts out through a four cycle phase of metamorphosis. He soon becomes the demonic creature seen above and battles Godzilla in the movie simply titled as "Godzilla vs Destoroyah". He originated from a colony of precambrian Crustaceans but was awakened and mutated when the oxygen destroyer from the original 50's film (Gojira or "Godzilla") was detonated.

If not Hedorah, how about Destoroyah? While seen as an option in forums and comments rather than major rumor and speculation, the fact that this creature originated from a man made device makes him seem plausible for this film. He doesn't even have to appear in his final form until the very end, they could use his metamorphosis criteria to slowly build him up until he is powerful enough to battle in the final climax of the film. It has been said before that a scorpion-like mix monster appear in the Comic-Con footage, while this may be another monster or simply just Kumonga's new form it can possibly be Destoroyah's crustacean form as well. But who knows...

MOTHRA / BATTRA
Mothra is a giant female moth monster, simply that. However it is a powerful monster that has more victories against the "King of Monsters" than any other monster out there. Of course many of these victories are done with the help of another monster such as her brother Battra. She has characteristics of both a moth and a butterfly and is one of the more popular monsters out there especially among female fans. Toho even made a Mothra trilogy fromher popularity!

Battra is the Male moth monster. While possibly not as popular as his sister Moth monster, Battra in ways is even more powerful than Mothra and was indeed more destructive and remorseless. He has also appeared in Godzilla video games, in one he was even a boss battle!

This new film currently has monsters based on one basic animal such as the mantis (Kamacuras) the spider (Kumonga) and lizard (Godzilla). If the monsters are, if true, all based on animals we can recognize than why not have some Moth monsters, two in particular?

GAMERA (kill me now)
Gamera has only appeared in his own solo films. However he was also created to be a rival to Godzilla during the 60's monster boom era. His shell is indestructible and can survive a number of enemy blasts, including missiles. He can also breath hot flames from his mouth and even put his arms and legs in his shell to unleash blasts of fire like a jetpack, allowing him to soar into the sky! His only weakness known is the cold.

Now many might want to slap me. Gamera and Godzilla would never get along and were never intended to, but why not? Because Toho and Daei have copyright problems? Godzilla has already battled King Kong for crying out loud! Also Gamera is considered Kaiju and I believe the rivalry between the two monsters, in terms of fandom, would be even more epic than the fights between Batman and Superman fanboys. Look I'm not stupid, I know this will not or never will happen. But I personally believe it is a fight long overdo, and Gamera still has the so-so potential to appear, especially since he is more animal based like the theory mentioned before.

BIOLLANTE

Biollante is an abomination biological science. It originally started as a rose bud form in the film "Godzilla vs Biollante" but soon mixed with Godzilla's DNA to become a plant monstrosity! It is now technically a Mutated Rose/Human/Godzillasaurus Hybrid.

Another monster based on failed testing done by humans? A monster that ends up punishing the world and mankind? I believe a plant monster can also be part of this film.

MEGALON

Megalon is a giant Beetle/Cockroach Anthropod that battled Godzilla in the obviously titled "Godzilla vs Megalon". This creature shoots lightning from its horn and spit out Napalm bombs from its mouth, it also has powerful drill-like hands.

This could also be that Scorpion mutant mix monster that I can also see Destoroyah partially being. Another bug Kaiju along with a giant mantis and spider never did any harm.

ANGUIRUS

Anguirus is basically a giant armadillo monster that was the first monster the King of Monsters ever battled in the film "Godzilla Raids Again". However the two beasts have teamed up many times and now Anguirus is Godzilla's most trusted ally. Even when forced to battle Godzilla in Final Wars the King didn't kill him due to this formed friendship.

This monster may have a chance, what better way to bring nostalgia then to have 2014's first monster be the original first monster to ever battle Godzilla?

THESE MONSTERS ARE VERY, VERY UNLIKELY:
These will definitely not appear, if they do I'll be among those who are very very surprised.

MECHAGODZILLA
While technically a machine made by the Simians, MechaGodzilla is the powerful doppelganger of the King of Monsters. This machine was created specifically to replcate every single aspect of Godzilla, with the exception of Godzilla's iconic roar. MechaGodzilla is among the more popular Kaiju monsters.

While I personally like the idea behind this metal beast, I feel as if his role in this beginning film wouldn't work... at all. It would definitely work for a sequel (assuming this new film begins a new uproar of Godzilla films) maybe even a Godzilla 2 in 2016 or whatever, but not this version.

KING KONG
Yes, King Kong was once grown four times bigger than his original large stature to battle it out with Godzilla in the "Godzilla vs King Kong" film. Is King Kong even considered Kaiju?

Kong is certainly among the more popular monsters, but to have him in this film is very incredibly unlikely. We'll just stick to the 2005 Peter Jackson version for now...

FRANKENSTEIN (GARGANTUAS)
Yes, the Frankenstein monster was even turned into a giant creature from Toho. Eventually this Frankenstein monster gave birth to two new giants known as the "Gargantuas", one being an aggressive water based creature and the other being a more gentle mountain giant. I'm not sure if either of these creatures ever battled with Godzilla, probabaly the original Frankenstein one.

Not only would this be ridiculous to use in this upcoming film, but it would also be a risk not worth taking. Also it would be weird for Americans to see a super sized classic horror monster battling it out in the film. Besides, people have "I,Frankenstein" to look forward to...

KING GHIDORAH

Ghidorah is easily the most iconic enemy to Godzilla. He originally came to earth in a meteorite and has been used many times by different aliens races. It was even in disguise as "Monster X" in the Final Wars film. The monster has no arms, three heads, wings and two tails. It has heat and energy breath attacks and its wings can cause hurricane strength winds.

While Ghidorah should definitely be included again sometime in the future, much like MechaGodzilla, it may work better in a sequel film or something. However, much to the Final wars film, it could make a surprise reveal in the end climax.

RODAN

Rodan is another ally of Godzilla. Rodan originally appeared in his own solo Kaiju film but eventually became a more Godzilla tradition beast. Much like Anguirus, Rodan started out as an enemy to Godzilla but overtime their friendship grew strong.

The three Monster friends of Godzilla, Anguirus, and Rodan are technically based after ancient prehistoric monsters in terms of design. Rodan in particular is based after a Pteranodon. While the other two can easily be expendable (Godzilla could originate from an Iguana for example) I don't think having Rodan originate from a bird or bat would work. At least I don't see it, oh well my opinion...

BARAGON

While technically not an enemy to Godzilla until the Millennium era, Baragon is quite the formidable opponent. Being a four legged dinosaur hybrid with big ears and a large horn on its nose, it also has the ability to emit heat waves and jump great heights, it also burrows underground.

Again a dinosaur based monster that would potentially be harder to explain than Godzilla or even Anguirus, but what do I know? I could just be stupid for all I care. Maybe Baragon has an equal chance like Rodan.

SPACEGODZILLA

This mutated clone of Godzilla was formed to have the same characteristics of Godzilla and has only ever appeared in it's lone debut film "Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla". The true origin of how this creature came to be is still unknown.

To put it lightly, MechaGodzilla has more of a chance than this guy. I personally don't like this one cause to me it was just a cheap idea to get another Godzilla mock out there to only use once.

GIGAN  OR JET JAGUAR
Jet Jaguar is a humanoid robot that was created by the main protagonist in "Godzilla vs Megalon". It has the ability to change its size, communicate with Kaiju, and it has floodlights in its eyes. its also another ally to Godzilla. One of the enemies it helped Godzilla defeat was Gigan, which is an alien cyborg created by alien hunters who used this creature as a distraction for Ghidorah to attack Tokyo. It also appeared in Final Wars as the first creature Godzilla destroyed. Another version of Gigan battled Mothra later on. It is a creature weaponized with claws, hooks, and eye beam.

Wouldn't work in this 2014 film, either of them, I can see some form of Jet Jaguar appearing in a later film as a means to understand and study the Kaiju monsters. However I don't think the inclusion of aliens in whatever sequels to this 2014 film would take effect unless it's slowly built upon overtime.

THESE JUST WON'T APPEAR AT ALL!!!

MINILLA
Why would Godzilla want to have a baby in this 2014 film that already has a lot going on as it is? Would they really want to attempt baby zillas again like in the 1998 Hollywood crap Godzilla film?

GODZUKI

Godzilla's Nephew monster? Would they really do that???

KAIJU FROM PACIFIC RIM

These beasts are already out in theaters, go see them now cause you won't be seeing them in Godzilla. Hopefully they'll appear again in a Pacific Rim 2 film.

AMERICAN GODZILLA
No... Just no...

Look, you were ok in Final Wars, but that was because we wanted to see Godzilla, the real one, completely obliterate you! So no more!!!

I know not every single Kaiju monster is on here, but if I wrote about every single one this post would take weeks to make! But if anyone else has a particular monster in mind that they would like to either see on the silver screen again or just think fits with this upcoming reboot film perfectly, please comment!

Until next time...

  1. One kaiju I could see is Megaguirus (from Godzilla x Megaguirus 2001).

One kaiju I would DEFINITELY NOT want to see is Gabera from "All Monsters Attack AKA Godzilla's Revenge"

Of all the kaiju though that he should he face if he does fight any other kaiju, my choices would have to go to either Hedorah or Destroyah (both were the epitome of bad assery).

  2. Megaguirus crossed my mind a time or two as well., but after watching the trailer a few times, Battra kept popping up in my head. I read that one of the creatures is centipede like, and the other a flyer. The Battra Larvae essentially is a centipede, which then goes through a metamorphosis into a flying moth like creature. At the very least, some definite similarities.
