Aliens: Colonial Marines collectors edition officially confirmed!!!

Despite the games new release for February, you'll be happy to know that there will indeed be a collectors edition, and it will be available for pre-order very soon!

The collectors edition includes a large figurine of a Powerloader fighting a Xenomorph alien (whether it's playable or just a statue is unknown for now). It also allows you to play four movie characters, and you'll be able to use Ripley's Flamethrower weapon (both the flamethrower and 4 movie characters are also pre-order bonuses for the normal copy at Gamestop). And a new mystery level will be available, and of course new downable content crap such as new weapons and grenades, and also a USCM-Dossier. All of this comes in a limited edition Xenomorph Hive box, truly an epic collectors edition for any Alien fan.

Remember, the game is now scheduled to be released in February for PS3, 360, and Wii U...

Injustice: Gods among us announced by Warner Bros.

Prepare to have nerdgasms you comicbook fans, Warner Bros. Studios just announced that Nether Realm is creating a new DC game called "Injustice: Gods among us".

Nether Realm is popular for making the Mortal Kombat games, but Warner Bros. has promised that this game will have "Epic Battles on a Massive scale" which is a different approach for Nether Realm. The lines between good and evil are blurred, and players will be able to play their favorite DC Heroes and Villains. Warner Bros. also promised that this fighting game will be unlike any other, and will have great storytelling and a large cast of DC favorites.

Isn't it a bit funny that this is the next game being made by the same guys that also made "Mortal Kombat vs DC universe"? And will Mark Hamill return to voice the Joker? (unlikely). What IF our greatest heroes became our greatest threat? and how successfully will Nether Realm portray that epidemic? Many questions...

So far Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Solomon Grundy, and one other herd-to-determine character are shown to appear. But we can expect others like Green Lantern, Aqua Man, Joker, Lex Luther, and maybe Green Arrow to also appear.

The game will be released in 2013 for the PS3, 360, and the Wii U...

Trailer below:

New Dead Space graphic novel hints at clues for the next game

As many know, a new Dead Space game is suppose to reveal at this years E3, and many believe it's Dead Space 3. A new graphic novel short however hints at just what the next story will be.

The comic covers a new character named Sergeant John Carver as he patrols on planet Uxor. There is a Marker involved, some monsters, and loved ones in immediate danger. Is this just a teaser for a new novel series, or an actual hint towards the next game? Rumors also say that this character might be the Co-op partner of Isaac Clarke in Dead Space 3, which is still rumored to possibly have on and off Co-op.

Among the Sleep horror game's protagonist is a Toddler?

Among the Sleep is a newly announced Survival Horror game that puts you in the pajamas of a 2 year old Toddler that wanders off from his crib.

Not much is revealed about the game, but it does look like a terrifying game. The video tease below shows off some brief gameplay. The atmosphere is perfect and the creepy house setting is also perfect, and don't forget the child's breathing. Some supernatural stuff will apparently occur and a creature of some sort is briefly seen in a door window which suggests monsters in the game too. No word on whether there will be enemies that attack or not.

The game comes out next year for the PC and Mac, no word on possible console versions though...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning 2 was to be, but Not anymore...

The first Amalur game did fairly well, which is why Big Huge Games was having a sequel in the works. Well not anymore! Mostly because the studio is, and will be, in Jeopardy.

Joystiq reports that, though Big Huge Games team could still be saved, it is unlikely that work could continue on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning 2. The intellectual property is owned by 38 Studios, but could soon be in possession of Rhode Island.

Work being done on the sequel included improving graphical quality, removing loading times between zones, more combat animations, more branching quests, and greater player impact on the world of Amalur.

Does this make anyone sad? Do you think Kingdoms of Amalur deserved a sequel? Do you even know what Kingdoms of Amalur is?

Happy 1st year GeekBeerz!!!!!!

Geekbeerz started roughly around this same time last summer, and things are finally starting to shape up! Many things have changed since Geoff, Shrew, and Tom (me) founded and grew this blog.

We now have 8 available Podcast episodes, a new younger member has joined the crew, and past struggles have been treated and cured for the sake of keeping this Blog and company alive and well. And trust me, we have plenty of new things coming to please our followers.

  • GBP episode 9 and 10 of season 2 will eventually make way, hopefully by next month. We can promise you all a very successful improvement for our future episodes. And I can assure you all the completion of season 2.
  • Geoff has introduced a new segment: Small Talks. These are mini episodes we do at actual restaurants where we keep it short (well shorter) than the regular episodes and mainly talk about one specific issue or game. I have no idea when Geoff plans to unleash the first Small Talks episodes, but they will release for download on Itunes for free!
  • There will be a new photo section where we show you all our best moments and memories. I won't spoil too much but there will be some pics of Geekbeerz Halloween special party.
  • An improvement on the Bio section, nuff said.
  • It was a tough decision, but I may actually start doing GeekFlix Podcast episodes, where we mostly talk about movies and TV shows and anything similar. This may come into Play soon.
  • More site theme changes. I know that the Angry Birds theme has been on for what feels like years now, but I promise a new theme will appear soon.
How do we celebrate our first year? by acknowledging the fact that we managed to last a year. I say for all of us here and to the other three members, good freaking job! and keep up the hard work...

Bergy's epic search for the remaining four Arkham City Secrets- PART 1

Geekbeerz member Taylor Bergstrom (check his bio for more info) has decided to go out and desperately search for the remaining four to three easter eggs that Batman: Arkham City has yet to offer. His quest begun nearly five days ago.

If anyone has any idea of where to look or has a hint, or possibly have already found them, please let us, and Bergy, know ASAP.

High Moon reveals Dinobot origins in new Fall of Cybertron exclusive

The Dinobots are arguably the most beloved characters in the Transformers lore by many fans. The thought of "Giant Robotic Fire Breathing Dinosaurs" sends chills down your spine (or at least gets you interested). So High Moon has unleashed an exclusive preview of their origins stories and how it plays out in the game sequel itself.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will release for the PS3 and 360 on August 28th and is already available for pre-order. Check out the video below:

[EDIT:] Shadow of the Colossus will become a Movie!

Josh Trank, the director of Chronicle, is a huge gamer. So really it's no surprise that Trank made a deal with Sony to create a Shadow of the Colossus film. This movie has been talked about since 2009.

Learn more at: Geekflix
(p.s. sorry for using the Last Guardian pic, if it bugs you :/ )

[EDIT:] very sorry for the delay of the Geekflix post, things have gotten so busy that I had no time for the "publish" button. But it's on now so go check it out!

Marvel Heroes MMO gets a new Trailer / the next Diablo?

Yep, Marvel has left Sega and now they are showing their new upcoming MMO game. The game is being developed by Gazillion entertainment and directed by the creator of Diablo himself, David Brevik.

Of course, everyone is going to be too preoccupied playing Diablo III to get excited for this right now. But this will be one of the five major MMO titles to get excited for in 2012, with Diablo III and Star Wars: the Old Republic (both successful, Diablo more so) we also have this game releasing as well as God Slayer (being developed by Changyou and Crytek) and we still have the Transformers Universe coming around the corner.

Here is the trailer reveal for Marvel Heroes, It may seem too much like Ultimate alliance but the gameplay seems very much like Diablo:

Valve teams up with Overkill

After my post involving Valve's next game, this news decides to unleash itself.

the company Overkill, who made the game "Payday: the Heist", will team up with Valve to make a game that's a similar game to both Payday and Left 4 Dead. Hmn... sounds like a possible Left 4 Dead 3 with a Payday twist. No other comment was made.

So what do you think this game will be? a sequel or something new?

CRAP! Aliens: Colonial Marines is Delayed to 2013

Sadly it has been delayed again, but now for very good and reasonable complications.

The game will now be released on February 12th 2013, this is so they don't have to compete with all the major fall releases like Halo 4, Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed III, etc. However it still has to compete with Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider. They are also trying their best to make this game a "true" sequel to the original Alien movie, so you can't blame them for needing more time.

So save up your 60 bucks for next year...

How you found EVERY secret in Arkham City????

Arkham City is about to get a major Game of the year release and a new DLC story expansion, but now Rocksteady is giving us more things to consider.

Rocksteady has confirmed that not every secret has been found in Arkham City, at least 3-4 more secrets are left to be discovered. Holy cow! Most of the already found secrets were pretty hard themselves, how in the world are we gonna be able to find out these last ones? Don't even try to look them up on the computer, as of now nobody has discovered them.

Taylor (Member of Geekbeerz and a huge Batman fan like me) better be prepared for the biggest "Bat Hunt" of his life. If we find any of these remaining secrets we will post about it...

Sly Cooper 4 will also be playable on the Vita

Sly Cooper's major return for the PS3 is close, hopefully closer, but now it's not just gonna be a console release.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will also have a Vita release out on the same day as the PS3 versions. While some controls change a bit (for example: the Vita doesn't have R2 or L2 buttons) the game will pretty much be the same. The best part is that the game can cross platform, which means you can play it on your PS3 then convert it to your Vita when you have to go somewhere so you can still play where you left off. How cool is that!?

Sly Cooper 4 has no real release date yet, but it will now be released for the PS3 and the Vita...

What will, or Should, be Valves next big Game?

Valve is a very beloved game company that truly expounds on what gaming should be. But after their successful release of the amazing Portal 2 game, what's next? Sure there are rumors of them possibly making a PC based console but is that really their next big project?

When we think of an upcoming Valve game, we think of sequels to the game that are already awesome. Here are some of the big possibilities:

Half - Life 3 (or another episode)

Half - Life is a huge franchise of Valves, possibly their biggest, and it's no wonder that people have been anticipating another game entry for what seems like forever. It is highly rumored that the next game will actually be Half - Life 3, but at this point we don't care if it's even just another episode.

Portal 3
Portal 2 came out just last year, but people are already demanding for Portal 3. It is bound to happen eventually, Valve made that point clear, but could it be their next big game? Would they want to make the third to quickly finish off the Portal games as a trilogy?

Left 4 Dead 3
Why not return to the Zombie series? The second game proved to be a great sequel to the first, perhaps the third can make that even better?

Team Fortress 3
Another game that ends on the third note, could another Team fortress be on its way? I'm not a big fan of this series because it's my least favorite of the Valve games, but could it be coming?

Perhaps a Collision?
How does "Half - Portal: Left 4 Fortress 3" sound? Joking aside, we know that Half - Life and Portal take place within the same universe, so a game like this is not far fetched at all...

Other Possibilities:
  • Alien Swarm 2
  • Deathmatch 2
  • Day of Defeat 2
  • Dota 3
  • another Counter-Strike? (besides the next one coming in 2012)
What do you think will be Valves next major game? Will it be a Sequel or something completely new and Original?

UPDATE: Valve is releasing Dota 2 and Counter - Strike: Global Offensive this year, but I speak of what game they haven't announced, the one(s) coming out after 2012 so to speak.

Will Star Fox and Metroid collide???

Please take this with a Grain of Salt, but it is possible that these two characters, as well as their worlds, will collide in one big Nintendo game.

It is rumored that Retro studios next game will actually be a crossover between the Star fox and Metroid franchises coming out for the Wii U. The belief is that Retro decided to do this over doing another Star fox game and a new Third-Person entry, and that this game will possibly be titled: "Star Fox - Metroid: Fusion saga."This rumor comes from a PGN blog post that was also correct about old rumors for "Playstation All Stars Battle Royale" before the game was officially announced. Put not even PGN knows if these rumors are true or not.

True to each franchise, Star Fox segments of the game are based on high-action, high energy third-person air and land-based combat, both in Arwings and on-foot. Conversely Metroid portions of the title are more isolated, lonely, and based on the first-person perspective introduced with Metroid Prime.

If this becomes truth, would you be excited over this? Can these two franchises collide and work as one big game?

Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 gets a Cinematic intro

Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 come out in America sometime in Fall, but already they are making us get excited. Japan has just released this new Animated intro that goes through as course of various events. Sorry that it's in Japanese, but it is still easy to know what is happening. The best part is that this short intro alone is a hundred times better than the TV show!

Darksiders II comes out August 14th + new Cg trailer

People were saddened by the delay for Darksiders, which was said to be pushed to August, but now we can gladly sit back and admire a surprising early release in August.

The game now comes out on August 14th for PS3 and 360. Also here is a new trailer to keep you entertained until then. Yes it doesn't show too terribly much, but we do get to see Death's Reaper form!

The next step, being Unreal Engine 4, is expected to fully unveil at E3 but we got screenshots to examine, check em out:

the PSP is basically Dead

Yes the handheld is still a huge hit in Japan, but what is its status in America? Or anywhere else for that matter? Reports have revealed that a majority of smaller Gamestop stores are getting rid of anything that is PSP or PSP related for the sake of bringing in the new products such as games for the Vita, 3DS, and even early preparation for the Wii U.

This was clearly going to happen sooner or later, Sony has done very little with the Portable for the last two years or more. It is now clear that Sony has all its handheld interests in the Vita, and that PSP would just die off similar to how the DS killed the Gameboy, or how the 3DS will potentially kill off the original DS...

Despite all this, a few of the Larger Gamestop stores will still have PSP products, but they'll forever be seen as an old school product possibly next to the PS2 and PS one games.

Sony's financial crisis: the good and the bad

It's now no secret that this year Sony has been through Hell. Ever since the major Japan Earthquake the company hasn't been doing well financially. With their 6.4 billion dollar loss, what can we expect to see in Sony's, and especially Playstation's, future?

LAST YEAR: while the Playstation did win over the other consoles with HD remakes and major exclusives, the console itself has not sold much. In 2011 the PS3 sold 13.9 million units, down 400,000 units from the year before. the PSP also has its go, with 8 million units now down to 6.8 million units (of course this doesn't matter too much for Sony since their eyes are now on the Vita) and even the old PS2 was able to sell 4.1 million units, sadly being down from 6.4 million from the year before. And please, don't get me started on their TV's, which are down 18.5 percent year over year...

TODAY: Sony says that despite last years PS3 decrease of sales, the console is still a mere 3.3 million units away from Xbox 360 sales worldwide, which is really good especially since the Xbox was one year ahead of PS3, and analyst suggest that if the PS3 came out the same year as the 360 did then they would actually be winning the race. The PSP continues to still be a huge hit in Japan. And the Vita, while having a very slow start, is now starting to grow in sales. The games for the PS3, especially exclusives, are now and still selling very very strong.

THE FUTURE: Sony has announced at the upcoming E3 2012 they will be revealing 20 games, which shows how prepared they are to compete with Nintendo's Wii U. Also there is a possibility of the Vita getting a price cut this year too, meaning that sales will start to hugely increase for the handheld. Besides the 20 games for PS3, you can expect the Vita to get lots and lots of new games in its future, which is good. Sony seems to have plans to work more closely on it's Video game corner of the industry, which is huge news for any gamer. And while Sony is still expected to reveal the PS4 in late 2013, they still have complete faith in the PS3 to stay strong against the 360, Wii, and the upcoming Wii U.

I'm not sure what questions to ask, but what are people's thoughts on this?

Halo 4 gets its cover art, good job Microsoft!

Fans and gamers were given a chance to piece together a puzzle to reveal this art, for promotional reasons. It has also been confirmed that this will actually be the cover art for the actual game itself! Wow dang! Typically Xbox gets a bad rep for making bland or poor covers for their games (just look at Halo 3 for example) but this is without a doubt the most amazing cover art that has ever been done for an Xbox game, good job Microsoft.

Here is the cover art, the game will be released for the 360 on November 6th ...

other October games coming out:
- Medal of Honor: Warfighter - 10 / 23 / 2012

Bioshock Infinite might be out of the Fall Schedule, but Dishonored just joined the crowd!

Yes it's sad that Bioshock decided not to compete with all the other fall releases, but apparently Dishonored is getting it's release on October 9th, just a week after Resident Evil 6 releases.

The game will come out for PS3, 360, and PC...

Bioshock Infinite Delayed

First it was announced back in 2010 that the game was scheduled for a February 2012 release, didn't happen. Then the game had a nice little announcement for an October 2012 release, not going to happen. Now the game instead will release on February 26th 2013.

Not only that, the game will also not appear at E3 or Gamescon this year, makes sense though since the game won 40+ rewards last year at those conventions. The reasoning behind this comes from a letter by Kevin himself:

A MESSAGE FROM KEN LEVINE
When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing.
Since then, we’ve come to realize that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal (and very patient!) fans know this as soon as possible.
I won’t kid you: BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter. We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco.
The same principle now applies to BioShock Infinite.
What does this mean for you? It means a bit more waiting, but more importantly, it means an even better BioShock Infinite. The great can be made greater, and we owe it to both ourselves and to you, our fans, to take this opportunity. Irrational Games is one of those rare developers lucky enough to ask the people who sign the checks: “Hey, can we have a few more of those checks?”
We are also going to hold off on showing BioShock Infinite at the big events of the summer, like E3 and Gamescom. That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we’re going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February.

Sad, but hopefully the wait will be worth it...

Soul Sacrifice gets a new teaser, looks more and more like a Dark Souls/Demon's Souls game

A new teaser showing tidbits of gameplay has surfaced, and it Definitely looks strangely familiar.

Sony could be launching a third soul entry in the franchise, still it is unclear if this is a game in the same series, what we do know is that it'll be a PS Vita exclusive. Check out the video below:

PS Vita goes white, Crystal white to be exact

The Vita had a really bad start with sales, even worse than the 3DS, but now sales are just barely starting to increase. But it turns out that Sony is going white... Crystal white.

Check out the next Crystal White Playstation Vita, it is coming out in Japan on June 28th for a reasonable price. There's still no word on whether this will go stateside, but the system is still region free and people will more than likely demand it, plus this would be a great way to further campaign the new-gen system along with what the 3DS is doing.

Would you like a white colored Vita? Or is the original black good enough?

RUMOR: could Dead Space 3 be revealed at E3 this year?

EA has responded to Gameinformer and said said many big game announcements will be revealed such as Madden NFL, FIFA, Sim City, Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, and Deadspace for this years E3 press conference. Now, we're unclear if this will actually be Dead Space 3 or some other Extraction game. But a logo teaser was seen at Visceral's studio, and rumors have reported that the game would primarily take place on an ice planet (which now could've been a hint for Lost Planet 3). Either way, a new Dead Space game should be coming out before EA's deadline of March 2013, after that any Dead Space game would probably be helped by some other company.

Will this next Dead Space be the highly anticipated third game?

an Xbox 360 Subscription console for $99 is confirmed

An Xbox 360 for $99, via Subscription-based, has been officially confirmed. It is a 4GB console that comes with Kinect and also requires that you get a two year Xbox LIVE gold contract of $14.99 a month. More can be learned by This Coupon which is required when you go to buy it, in order to redeem the deal.

Could this be a hint at lesser priced consoles for the future? Or is that just an unlikely dream?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 breaks pre-orderd record!!!

Amazon has revealed that day one pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops II are ten times pre-order numbers of the original Black Ops on its first day of availability. In addition, pre-orders are also 30 percent higher than Modern Warfare 3's day one pre-order numbers.

Previously, Modern Warfare 3 set the Amazon record for most pre-ordered game of all-time. In fact, MW3 is among the top 20 pre-orders ever for Amazon, including non-game items like books and movies.
P.S.
Zombies will return, and we'll get to play as a female character!!!!!!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 major world premiere today... Oh... My ... Crap!

Yes the rumors were true as the earth does spin, Call of Duty's next game is in fact Black Ops 2. But Treyarch's next game is a bit different from the first one that took place in the 1960's cold war, because this sequel takes place in 2025.

Yep, 2025, a huge leap for both Treyarch and Activision. While the game is obviously not a direct sequel, character Frank Woods from the first game does return as a really old war veteran. He actually narrates the video below. Apparently machine turns against man in this one, an overused plot, but still that a minor reveal from very small info.

Here is the vid:

So do you think this will truly be the uprising that Activision needs to bring something new other then the copy/paste stuff from the last four years? Or will this just be another clone? Also, will there be freaking Zombies in this one? Please let there be at least Zombies...
