Despicable Me 2 Quickie Review

Minions Rule!
Story:
Take an original idea and give it a sequel that seems familiar but still manages to be excellent.

Cast:
The voice work is still good, Steve dominates the voice of Gru once more, at times Kristen Wiig's character may seem annoying during the first half.

Effects:
An animated film that can best the works of Dreamworks and Pixar

Entertainment Value:
Fans of the original will love this, this film is basically on par with the first.

Final Rating:
9.5/10

Man of Steel Quickie Review

If it ain't Batman it's...
Story:
They greatly use his alien origins to construct the film. The story seems to stay solid throughout with some questionable back and forth montages.

Cast:
Superman does ok but occasionally gets overshadowed by other characters like his dad. Amy Adams does good with Lois Lane.

Effects:
While it may seem too much at times, the actions sequences still show off nicely.

Entertainment Value:
DC fans will get a kick out of this, maybe even Marvel fans. Others may not like this and even the fans will question certain moments. While it may not beat the Dark Knight Trilogy, it certainly beats the likes of Green Lantern and past Superman Films.

Final Rating:
8.0/10

After Earth Quickie Review

Starring father and son
Story:
A very simple tale as a whole with some overlooked origins that may or may not make us crave for that certain information.

Cast:
Will does good again, although wooden at times, but seems to take a breather for his son to shine, Jaden was good for us but may be questionable to some.

Effects:
Here you will find the best CG rendering of animals to date. The "alien" effects are good too but may seem familiar to other models in the past. The main weapon in the film is brilliant.

Entertainment Value:
Two of us here enjoyed this. But many reviews suggest otherwise, still it is definitely good enough to see at least once.

Final Rating:
7.5/10

Iron Man 3 Quickie Review

Released on May 2013
Story:
The story delivers even more than the second film, there's even a major plot twist that you may or may not like but should nevertheless affect your enjoyment of the film.

Cast:
Robert Downey Jr. always shines as the famous Tony Stark, other cast members also do a great job especially Ben Kingsley and even Don Cheadle this time around.

Effects:
The new suits still continue to be better than the last one.

Entertainment Value:
Despite certain fan opinions, all comic book fans can find enjoyment in this one. Even fans of just the actor can enjoy this. However, this sequel is more serious in tone if anyone is against that.

Final Rating:
9.0/10

Introducing Quickie Reviews for Movies!

A new thing here at GeekBeerz! Quickie Reviews are very simply reviews that go short and sweet to the point. Full movie reviews will be on our new podcast series and will go more in depth to our individual opinions.

EDIT: we will do a ten out of ten system, we consider anything higher than a seven a good film.

What other Monsters could be in Godzilla 2014???

Comic-Con had a lot of things to show and tell, like the Avengers 2 title and a Batman-Superman crossover film, but one of the biggest movies to make an appearance is definitely the biggest cultural movie monster of all time, Godzilla!

The Last of Us Review

It has been way too long since we wrote an actual review on the site. Usually we talk about them on the podcast and give our "Impressions" on them, however with the big changes and decisions we've made no gaming reviews of any sort has actually happened. But now I'm here to review quite a few games that I have been playing or have played since the last couple of months. And what better game to start off with than the very successful Last of Us!

Something New is Upon us: Vote for your favorite cover art!

Our website and podcast series is going to have major changes, an evolution if you will, and it will include new promotional art too!

You guys will decide which cover art we should proceed with! This cover art (whatever it will be) will be our new podcast cover and will be used for about a year or so to promote and whatnot. There are four to choose from:

Cover Idea One:

This is both completely different and new for all of us. Very simple but can also be quite noticeable, almost standing out. This was made from an original idea for a modified USB logo for the TAG comic (update on that soon) but it was eventually thrown out of the TAG cover bin. The logo has been colored, turned 8-bit, and made to have a "Z" in the circular tip so I don't believe copyright issues would be a problem...

Cover Idea Two:

This one is even more simple than the first. It's basically the avatar logo we use on Youtube but with a border and name, cast, and whatever else we put on. Again, this can be very strong and straight to the point. Simple, but what's wrong with that?

Cover Idea Three:

This cover art was thrown out months ago, however it may still be good enough for a cover idea. If chosen major modifications would be made to make a whole lot better. The idea is to make a mock Mario side scroller with a twist put in the middle.

Cover Idea Four:

This one took pretty long to make. Basically is back to 8-bit versions of ourselves but newer and closer related models. If anything were to be changed I would put Shrew and Josh into the pic too.

Please choose your favorite by poll or comment, we would greatly appreciate your involvement!

Until next time...

We've Reached 20,000+ Views!!! (which is a BIG deal to us)

It is a small victory, quite small, but still a major achievement to us here at GeekBeerz! We started this blogger barely a year ago and despite months of problems, delays, lack of posts here and there, and occasional screw ups we still managed to keep you guys coming back to currently surpass 20,000 views!

We know we have a lot to improve on and our site and podcasts aren't exactly masterpieces, heck 20,000 views may even sound weak to some. What's important is that we feel good about it, very good.

We would like to thank everyone who has commented, viewed, or simply noticed us throughout our first year-almost year and a half! I remember how excited we were when we got our first comment on one of our older posts, it was amazing to think we somehow managed to get one person to comment about our post. But now we've gotten many comments and even questions!

If we ever had anyone out there who has stuck around for quite a while, whoever you may be, we especially thank you a million for dealing with our crap the longest!

We may or may not touch on this mini victory in our next podcast episode.
