PSVITA games will be cheaper when downloaded

While Sony has no concerns yet for the Vita, the low sales in Japan might make things a bit bumpy for the American release. But perhaps this bit of news should get things more interesting again. If you download new Vita games, they will be cheaper then if you buy them at a regular store!

"There will be a discount," Sony said. "Exact details will be revealed in the very near future." A user on NeoGAF published a screenshot of Best Buy's release list that shows download games will be $5 cheaper than retail copies, but that price reduction has not been confirmed by Sony.

In Japan, digital Vita games already carry a discount in price - nearly $10. so this seems to be very legit. Remember, the PSVITA comes out on February 22nd in North America...

Dragon's Dogma delayed for a May release

Originally the stab at the open-world RPG was scheduled for a release in march, But for unknown reasons will now be released on may 22nd release. Kinda disappointing but maybe there was a good reason. With that news, Capcom has also released the new trailer that you can watch below. (p.s. watching the beginning of the trailer, didn't that first part remind you of the movie Dragon Heart?????)

EDIT: news just came out that those who buy Dragon's Dogma will get an early access to the Resident Evil 6 demo :)

Sony in no rush to bring the PS4, Microsoft will not release the 720 in 2012

To continue more off of the older post involving the PS4 not showing at E3 2012, Turns out that it's not just because they think the PS3 can last, it's because they are in NO RUSH!

Sony says the PlayStation 4 will likely be the final next-generation console to be revealed. In a new interview, Sony France CEO Philippe Cardon explains that the company is in no rush to reveal its plans for the PS4, and that its situation is different than its competitors.

"The Wii is under time pressure because it's in decline," Cardon told French site Lepoint.fr. "As far as we're concerned, we're under a lot less pressure. We were the last to release the PS3. We will probably be the last to announce something."

This should not concern, the PS3 was indeed the last released of the now gen-consoles and look how it has evolved over the last many years. And for those who believe that Sony will just copy off from what they see Microsoft and Nintendo do, Check this out:

PS1 - First console to use CD's

PS2 - First console to use DVD's

EYETOY - First motion controlled accessory

PS3 - First console to use Blu-Ray's

Now we're not gonna play favorites here, because we here at GeekBeerz believe it's the games that matter and not what the games are being played on, but we wish to stop this console war nonsense once and for all. (p.s. sure Sony took the PSmove idea from the Wii, but Microsoft took the idea of Kinect from Playstation's Eyetoy, And Wii U will take the idea of using HD from both, so again what's the big deal???)

For other news, Microsoft has Revealed that the Xbox 720 will not be released in 2012:

"We're in an industry that talks a lot, that likes telling stories," Delmas told French site Lepoint.fr. "I am not convinced that things will happen this year. The Xbox 360's cycle is not over at all. The proof is that we haven't price cut this year. Afterward, what will happen at E3, it's still too early to say. What's certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012."

"If we wanted to counter Nintendo, we would have to be in a position to release something immediately, and that is not at all the case," Delmas said. "We're not here to counter Nintendo and they're not here to fight the other manufacturers. Nintendo has put itself in a different cycle. It's going forward to its own rhythm, with success as we have seen with the Wii, and now it's their turn to present their innovation."
Now we would be sad, if we didn't think it was a good idea, but we do believe it's a good idea. Like we've said, we have just seen the PS3 and 360 at their highest potential. Are we really quite sure that we're ready for "What will be" instead of "What is now"?

On the brightside, Nintendo says that the Wii U will be available in 2012 XD.

UPDATE: Alien Colonial Marines new trailer to confirm Fall 2012 release

While the new delay is half-depressing for a majority of those dying to play the game, this new trailer will, once again, brings our hopes up:

For the years waiting for this, it better be a dang good game.

Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition box art revealed

About a week old news update but here's what it will look like for Japan:

IF this game ever comes out in America, it's safe to assume that the same box art will be on the english versions. Also, here is a new gameplay trailer:

Here we go again, Aliens: colonial marines delayed AGAIN!

Son of a friggin gun! Will this game ever see the light of day? first it was announced in 2008, for an April 2009 release, then it was delayed for a 2010 release, then for a release sometime in 2011, and now it was suppose to come out this spring, But was delayed AGAIN! we can understand that the studio wants to make sure the game is perfect, and we can respect that, but it's been nearly five years!

On the bright side, at least the delay now isn't as bad as the last few. It has now been delayed for an after fall release of this year. Some believe it will now be a november release, due to many games and sequels coming out around that time.

Insomniac to no longer make Resistance games

While the Resistance series is still beloved by many PS3 owners, it's easy to see that the game will get stale if they keep making more. Insomniac probably believes that the series ended well with the third one, and therefore no reason to make a Resistance 4. They said they want to focus on some of their other game series such as Ratchet and Clank (all 4 one did very very well, so it kinda makes sense) and they may even work more on Overstrike and maybe even a new game series all together!

However they did say IF Resistance did get more games, they would be made by a completely different game company. They have full trust that Sony can give the project to a company that can actually make the next Resistance games not suck, but then again look what happened when they sold Spyro :|

So do you guys think stopping Resistance for good is the best option, or do you believe that another company can make them infinitely better?

PS4 to not be revealed at E3?

It may seem that, with all the fuss about Microsoft and Sony releasing their next gen console, Sony has made the possible decision of not revealing the PS4 this year.

Sony President Shuhei Yoshida recently laughed off comments when asked about the possibility of a Playstation 4 launch this year. During a Playstation Vita interview, CVG threw a number of questions at the big man but he shrugged them all off saying "We have no immediate plans for another home console announcement".

But perhaps this can just be to produce more hype. An excellent strategy If true, to let let everyone expect the unexpected. But then again:

we've yet to see what the PS3 can fully do when really put through its paces (in fact Sony states that games currently on the market are not even close to pushing the system to its full potential)

So maybe Sony really is playing it smart, they perhaps realize that a new console really isn't necessary for the next couple years. Some even say that the PS3 can still remain strong until 2015! We here at GeekBeerz believe this in every way, we are just now discovering this generations consoles at their highest potential, are we REALLY ready for the next gen in the gaming world?
So what does everyone else think? There are rumors that the PS4 will be announced at E3 2013, then presumably released in the year 2014. But considering that they still made PS2 titles after the release of the PS3 for quite some time, Maybe the PS4 will come sooner then we think. But what do you guys really think is gonna happen???

Darksiders confirmed-ish release date and new side "dungeon" quest missions confirmed

Those who worry about the release date Gamestop has given Darksiders II (which was set to come out 12/31/12) no longer have to, for Vigil has made it known that this game will come out in the summer of this year. However when in summer has yet to be known, our best guess is somewhere in June. Anyway, here's a new Trailer giving us a more in-depth look on the new character Death:

A very different character from War (the first games protagonist) I could talk about the differences all day but I think the game creators themselves can do it better:

And, just for kicks, here's the trailer that was shown at the VGA:

And there's even more news! Apparently there will be side missions called "dungeon" missions where you must battle through many different dungeons to get to the main boss in the mission (for laughs let's just call them the dungeon masters) so anyone who thought the first game was too long, well too bad cuz this one is expected to be longer.

THQ and Vigil will release Darksiders II sometime in the summer for PS3, 360, and possibly even for the Wii U!

New character officially announced by Capcom for Resident Evil 6

In the trailer, we saw plenty of new characters to keep us speculating and wondering for days. But now we know of one in particular. Her name is Helena Harper, and she's Leon's new partner.

When will we know the names of the other new character's? and when will we?

Creators of Dead Space looking to recruit for "online shooter game"

While they did announce that they have BIG plans for Dead Space 3, they still have their eyes locked on to other ideas. But now they are looking for help:

"EA is looking for a lead multiplayer designer to help create a thrilling online action shooter game. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a bold new franchise which is a cornerstone for a new EA Games Studio." More specifically, the posting is looking for someone with experience and ideas for multiplayer maps. No particular franchise is listed in the job posting.

We personally want Dead Space 3 now and not have to wait 3-4 years. But can another project from them lead to a rewarding franchise as good as Dead Space? Also, does anyone know somebody who could help out EA?

EA releasing figures with bonus DLC content for free download

We have to wait til march to play Mass Effect 3, but EA has already found a way to keep us (or die-hard fans) busy until the game arrives.
Bonus Downloadable Game Content: Each figure includes an in-pack card giving you access to downloadable in-game bonus content. Each figure contains different in-game content, exclusive to North American released product. Collect all 8 for the full experience!
The BioWare store notes, however, that the content is "slightly randomized during the registration and could include powerful new weapons and new characters. The pack could also include character boosters, weapon modifications, and weapon upgrades to make your multi-player squad stronger.

Let's just hope that this doesn't turn into another disaster like "Skylanders"

When Skyrim is attacked by Ponies

Have you ever wondered how Ponies might invade the world of Skyrim? Of course not, but the amazing person who made this video did:

Now you know what it's like, to be attacked by wild (my little) ponies XD

New pics for Resident Evil, Fall of Cybertron, and Bioshock Infinite plus news

Here are screen shots from the newly released trailer that Capcom has unleashed, To give a better look at the crazy shiz seen.

And here's some new news:

- co-op WILL return but how many players is unknown [edit] there is belief that the game will have 6 player co-op

- many many people feared that Albert Wesker would not be in this one, well it was just revealed, via facebook, that he indeed will NOT be in the 6th one. I guess it makes sense, he did fall into a volcano in the 5th one

Now here are some pics from both story and multiplayer of Transformers fall of cybertron. While the game isn't entirely finished (and not coming out til fall ) it already looks better, in graphics, then the first game:

It's great to see that Shockwave will play a major role in this. His character had little to do in the third movie so now this will be his moment to shine. Now here's some news that may be disappointing to fans:

- fall of cybertron will NOT have 3-player co-op for the story mode. While it was fun in the first game, the sequel would like to take things more seriously with the story.

So that kinda sucks, but Highmoon studios will never upset us completely, for they know how to bring the cybertronian world to life.

Next we have a couple of newish pics from Bioshock Infinite:

And here's the latest trailer, which was a teaser for the vga awards

This game, by far, is the one that two of us (Tom and Taylor) are truly excited for this year. We strongly hope that it is released soon. For news, be sure to read up on our older post about the 1999 mode.

DC gets a new logo look!

While this is not gaming news, we at GeekBeerz still love our most favorite superheroes to have ever been unleashed by both Marvel and DC. But this is news that will surprise everyone and not just comicbook geeks.

Set to deploy across various products and media beginning in March, the DC logo will adapt to fit the distinctive brands, characters and objects to which it will be applied. Perhaps most interestingly, the logo, which is meant to suggest a sense of "peeling back," will be interactive in the digital space.

The new DC logo is a component of the company's aesthetic overhaul which includes the successful albeit controversial New 52, a publishing initiative whereby the entire superhero line was relaunched with new #1 issues. The existing DC logo, the so-called "DC Spin," was introduced in 2005 as a replacement for the classic "DC Bullet" that had been in place since the 1970s. DC Comics also publishes the MAD magazine and Vertigo lines, whose logos will apparently remain as they are.

[original 2005 DC look]

[and here is the 1970 "bullet" logo, which the 2005 logo replaced]

What do you guys think? Will you accept the new look, or do you hope that the look will just be for the comics and that DC can still keep their last logo?

Resident Evil 6 confirmed by Capcom!

Turns out they confirmed it faster then previously intended. And what better way to reveal a game then by giving us a trailer:

So it's good to know that Chris and Leon will be the main protagonists of this adventure. And it will be a dramatic horror.

Capcom describes the game as a "blending action and survival horror" and is "the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title of the series to date and promises to be the dramatic horror experience of the year."

Here's a synopsis of the game's plot:
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision.
At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack.  With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

It's great to know that this promises a horror aspect (Which was slowly lost in the gameplay of the 5th installment) and if anyone is worried about development time, please read this:
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values.
"We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”

It's also worth mentioning that pre-ordering this game at retail stores such as Gamestop and Amazon will give you lots of goodies such as DLC map packs. RE6 will come out in november for PS3 and 360, and for PC at a later date.

And That's not even all the games! Looks like we'll be having plenty of games to keep us busy in the months to come, just try not to go broke.

Resident Evil 6 is legit, and coming out this year!

Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City and Resident Evil: Retribution are already coming out this year, but it appears that those aren't the only games of Capcom's franchise to come out in 2012.

This poster was found at a random Gamestop store, it turns out that a legit 6th game is going to come out! And by the looks of this poster, it'll get a november release and apparently is already available for pre-order.
Also, Gameinformer.com has revealed the possibility of characters Chris and Leon being in it.

Capcom has not given official word on this yet, but they are expected to announce something in perhaps just a few weeks. Is everyone excited as we are?

Irrational announces new 1999 mode for Bioshock infinite

You tired of easy checkpoints and watered-down difficulty settings? Well it seems that Irrational games has found a way to fix that problem to please their fans.

“We want to give our oldest and most committed fans an option to go back to our roots,” says Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games. “In 1999 Mode, gamers face more of the permanent consequences of their gameplay decisions. In BioShock Infinite, gamers will have to sweat out the results of their actions. In addition, 1999 Mode will demand that players pick specializations, and focus on them.
“I’m an old school gamer. We wanted to make sure we were taking into account the play styles of gamers like me. So we went straight to the horse’s mouth by asking them, on our website, a series of questions about how they play our games. 94.6 percent of respondents indicated that upgrade choices enhanced their BioShock gameplay experience; however, 56.8 percent indicated that being required to make permanent decisions about their character would have made the game even better.”

It was also said that on this mode, if you don't have the resources to revive yourself, that you will get an automatic game over :0

So does this shock everyone? It certainly shocks us here at GeekBeerz.

Things are getting worse, Juon video off site

This stupid fight we all got ourselves into just keeps getting worse, It seems as though the video will never see the light of day.

What happened to the Juon video?

It seems that one of our friends has tagged it for violation terms on youtube, believing it was used to hate and torture him on the web. In actuality this is all a HUGE misunderstanding and dispute of which we DON'T want to get into.

We hope to have him realize the mistakes of this disaster. And to let him realize that the video was just for mere fun and entertainment and not to make fun of anyone whatsoever.

As of now, I will respect our friend's request of not having this video on youtube but it will still be on this site to avoid youtubes large number of public viewers (as well as for our fans still desperate to see it) and we hope to fix this problem as soon as possible.

GBAwards cancelled

I doubt anyone is sad about this, but we've decided to cancel GBAwards due to being very ridiculous. It was meant to be a fun event for the team to talk about, but no one had the passion or desire to do anything about it. No matter, it is gone and that is that...
