As strange and Digimon-ish as it sounds, it seems as though Pokemon will no longer be stopping at a third evolution, to an extent.
Recently revealed a day or so ago by the likes of Serebii.net and even IGN, Mega Pokemon are not necessarily evolutions but they are also not just cheap new forms either.
Mega Pokemon evolve during battle if they are equipped with a character precise "Mega Stone" which each are very well hidden throughout the Game's region. The Mega forms change their stats, abilities, and even their types!
On October 12th there will be a special Mega Stone equipped Torchic you can get that goes until January 15th so be sure to check that out!
Here are the Mega Pokemon confirmed so far:
Mega Mewtwo: new Insomnia ability
Mega Blaziken: new Speed Boost ability
Mega Lucario: new Adaptability ability
Mega Mawile: type changed to Steel/Fairy, Huge Power ability
Mega Absol: new Magic Bounce ability
Mega Ampharos: type changed to Electric/Dragon, Mold Breaker abilityMore on this when we actually have time to write about this lol.
