Ask us Anything... Again! + changes

I hope you all enjoyed Episode 10, sure we were unable to keep it short and our first attempt at recording with new headsets was a wee bit sketchy, but we're doing our best to continuously improve day by day.

We actually enjoyed answering your questions so much that we're giving everyone more chances at asking us about anything, and we mean anything (as long as it isn't too stupid or insulting). But we're not going to keep making "ask us anything" posts in order to do that, we have another way that is easy for everyone.

Write a question on any post at any time, or even email or whatever. And whenever you do, if good enough, we will reply with the word "TAG". when your question is "tagged", it will be answered in any of the upcoming episodes on our Podcast. One Anonymous asked a very good question about Taylor's back problem, and we'll be more than ready to answer it on episode 11.

We apologize for the episode not coming AS early as we previously thought. Everyone has to understand that we do our episodes quite early, but take all the necessary time needed to edit out poor quality and to add music and stuff. This last episode had to be edited by two of us due to Taylor using a very different mic.

Anyways, here's all the changes we are hoping to make in the coming episodes:

- make them shorter, not too short but at least under the two hour mark... at least under that. We tried with episode 10 but it didn't work. But we'll keep progressing...

- Did anyone notice on the Episode 10 post that Geoff wrote when certain sequences happened at certain times? That's to help you guys know when what topic is brought up. Maybe you guys only wanted to listen to our question/answer topic, or perhaps certain game reviews or even gaming news. In the end, Geoff will gladly let everyone know when things happen at what time in each episode...

- As mentioned before, we'll be adding small talks soon...

- We'll answer questions when questions are asked, we're not sure how many questions you all still have but we'll keep this as a constant thing on our podcast as long as we get questions...

- We'll allow you guys to suggest certain songs or scores from any of your favorite games, and we'll be sure to try and put them in our podcasts during our breaks...

- We just used our new X12 headsets for the very first time on our podcasts, and now that Taylor finally got his P11, we'll improve on sound quality in no time...

Again, thanks for all the questions last episode. It was really quite fun to do. Episode 11 is just around the corner...

[P.S. Thank you Glyde, Miranda, Shade, Blitz, Lightning GxZ, Cyblade, and Kylar for all the good questions. And Thanks Anonymous people who we wish to know the names of XD]

Ouya will be small

Ouya is coming next year, it's gonna happen. And apparently it'll be a very small console, yes even smaller than the other cube shaped console, the Gamecube.

"Our console is quite small," designer Yves Béhar said during a live Q&A on Kotaku, "around the size of a Rubik's cube, and so it will easily fit anywhere in a room, or be easy to throw in a backpack."

While being proven very small, it's still in early development meaning it may not even look like the picture above. And despite its small size it still needs lots of power to run on 1080p HD televisions as promised. With a planned Tegra 3 Quad-Core Processor, 1GB of memory, and 8GB of storage fitting into a three-inch margin, the Ouya will need to be efficiently designed to prevent overheating. Béhar assured backers that these factors are being taken into consideration. "We intend to give the Tegra chipset room to breathe, as obviously it does get warm. Airflow is important here."

Is anyone else excited about a fourth console coming next year? Please comment...

High Moon also making a Deadpool game!?

Perhaps Hit Monkey was just a Decoy, cause High Moon and Activision made it official that a Deadpool will be getting his own game in 2013... Justice has been served!!!

Deadpool, as most Marvel and super hero fans know, is a hilarious Assassin anti-hero who always makes jokes, brutal kills, innuendos, and has never been shy of breaking the 4th wall. By the looks of this wicked awesome new announcement trailer, Deadpool will get the game he rightfully deserves.

The game will be made by High Moon, the makers of the Cybertron (Transformers) games, and published by Activision. Expect the game to release in 2013...

PS3 Model CECH-4011B Pics Revealed

It seems the rumor of the PS3XS are true according to Technoblog, a Brazilian technology blog. The main differences with this remodel include a smaller size than the slim, a flip-top lid or a disk tray, and...riffles.

There are still some rumors, however. The system will possibly come in three different hard drive sizes: 16gb, 250gb, and 500gb. It's also a possibility that Sony will officially reveal the redesign next month at Gamescom.

GeekBeerz logo has been chosen

While the newbie logo will still be our new logo on the GeekBeerz site, I've decided to go with the original classy look for when "TAD: the Total Achieving Dorks" finally comes out and hopefully gets published.

It was a major tie on the Poll, but the final decision was made partly due to a comment suggesting that this version looked more like comic material. And while the official cover hasn't been made yet, I am positively sure that this one will look best.

The comic is planned to come out sometime in August...

Surprise! We might get Podcast Episode 10 early

Guess what? We finished the Episode last Monday!

We answered all your questions and everything! But the episode still needs to get edited by Shrew and Geoff.

And that is all I can say for now, make sure to be here when Geoff finally puts the episode up...

Next Batman Arkham game to be... a Prequel???

Variety just recently commented on what the initial plans for Warner Bros and Rocksteady's next Batman Arkham game, which is now highly anticipated after the success of the last sequel Arkham City.

If reports are true, the next game would take place during the Silver Years, where Batman first meets with the Joker. And if true again, he won't be fighting Joker alone! Justice League may somehow be part of the story. If they are playable within the story story mode or just backup like Robin (before DLC) and Nightwing was is still unknown at this time. The original Justice League consisted of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter.

Game is said to come out no later than 2014...

a New Console???????

Say hello to Ouya, it is a custom-based Android operating system targeted to launch early next year.

We know that it's open to any developer making a game, provided that they have a free portion to it such as a Demo or Free-to-Play version. TwitchTV is one of the many Android apps that are supported. It does connect by HDMI at 1o8op HD, has WiFi and Bluetooth, and  Tegra 3 Quad Core Processor.

The controllers are wireless and use two AA batteries, and also have a touch pad for certain app games.  Other buttons make it similar to standard controllers with D-pads, action Buttons, and analog sticks.

How much would this bad boy cost? Just under a mere $100 is all! And while this may basically be a definite, with private fundings secured, the company has a kickstarter page asking for an additional $950,000 (click HERE to visit their kickstarter page for more on funding and rewards).

It may not be a strong competitor to the three mega consoles (but maybe who knows) it is still an interesting inclusion and can definitely be invited by gamers. No games have been confirmed so far, but some companies are interested like the makers of Minecraft.

console comes out sometime next year...

High Moon's Marvel game revealed: Hit Monkey

High Moon finally revealed what Marvel game they are making, and it isn't a real recognizable comic series.

Hit Monkey is like Rocket Raccoon, an animal character that is cool and not stupid like Howard the Duck. Hit Monkey follows the tale of a  Japanese Macaque Monkey that learns deadly traits by watching an unnamed human hitman that was ironically saved by Japanese Macaque Monkeys after a failed assassination. Eventually the Monkey's clan was all wiped out by a group of men and this lone monkey killed all the men using traits it learned from the hitman. After that, the Monkey dedicated its life to killing assassins - under the alias of Hit-Monkey.
It's not one we thought would be High Moon's secret Marvel game, but given the good story premise and the fame of Marvel, as well as how well High Moon has proven to take care of a licensed franchise, Hit Monkey could become an excellent and well known game in the long run.
Hit Monkey will release sometime in 2013...

Dragons Dogma

An updated version of the previous Dragons Dogma 9.5 post. At the time a full review of the game was still under some personal speculation, more thought and game play was needed before final review would end up here. And now it will.

Dragons Dogma was Capcom's attempt at creating an open world rpg, they took several ideas from many great and successful games and joined them into one. The most obvious would be Shadow of the Colossus; Capcom used many big creatures in their game where you could clime up and fight their week points or grapple and hold many of the smaller creatures, my favorite was grabbing a harpy by the talons and using it as my personal taxi up into the sky's. If you notice many of the moves in Dragons Dogma resemble Devil May Cry Series moves with their own added flash, the vast majority of open space was brought upon by the raging success of Elder scrolls Skyrim, and some relate the fighting style to Dark Souls (I don't see it, it's more like Lord of the Rings War in the North on crack.) Many people try to take ideas from other games and fail miserably but Capcom did it right.

A prophesy was foretold many generations ago where the arisen, one with the will above all others commanding a legion of pawns will rise in ranks to defeat the dragon and save all of Gran Soren. YOU ARE THE ARISEN!!!

Dragons Dogma is simple enough, you're city is attacked by a dragon you single handily try to save the ones you love and the place you've grown accustom to, just to have you're heart ripped out of your chest to feed the dragons raging hunger. Then you the arisen must take up arms with the accompany of your pawn to reclaim your heart. The story isn't something to go home raving about but that's now where the game shines.

The First amazing thing was the character customization where anyone and everyone can be crated to some realistic sense, and if time was spent a duplicate of yourself and friend could be virtual inserted into the would of Dragons Dogma.                                     (below are a few examples)

Katara off of Avatar

Chuck Norris as Chuck Norris

The next was the fighting style, it was like nothing I've ever played before, a hack and slash topped with overpowering physical skills and earth shattering magical effects, the ability to climb on enemies to slack their weaknesses or unbalance to make them topple. All enemies have an elemental weakness from fire to dark, enhancing your weapon to the enemies weakness is the easiest way to gain the advantage, then climb up the the weakest spot and slash away till the enemy falls. Darkness means danger, Don't wander off the road, Don't travel at night, and always carry a torch. The forest blankets the floor the darkness and monsters lurk in shadows, stay away or prepare to defend yourself.

The last was the pawns at times the AI doesn't do what you want it to do, but most of the time I would struggle when even one of my members fell out of the battle; Pawns have a special ability to travel the rift, a place where all universes converge into a central spot, pawns are made to serve man and the arisen have all power over pawns themselves. Lifeless dull never shut up pawns, Mans Best Friends. While your pawn stands by your side they are also traveling with another through the rift obtaining information about quests, enemies, and the world around them. Your main pawn can be trained to do as they please or protect the arisen, search for items or not give a crap, say their minds or only spit out useful information.

Loot was plentiful and worth searching for but their wasn't a whole lot of equipment changing along the fly, each weapon and armor piece could be upgraded to +3 then a chance to upgrade to +4 after defeating a dragon. The equipment was nice and looked good but i would have liked just a little bit more stuff to wear, other than that the gathering of herbs and wood were essential for almost everything and I left all of that scrounging for item to my main pawn. And the more you play the more powerful you become, at first a group of goblins would give me trouble but half way through the game they were just a nuisance. Player progression was fast and fun, testing new skills and applying them to battle was the highlight of the game, oh how accomplished i felt when i could single handily take down a group of harpies and two helmeted cyclops, nothing could bring me down, I was INVINCIBLE!                     (Below are some loot options)

Lady's Garb

Griphic Armor

Story

Good but not more than skin deep, actions in game affect story outcome but nobody tells you when an important decision is in front of you.

5/10

Gameplay

Amazingly fun and brutal but every game has its disadvantages and this one is no different.

9/10

Graphics

Graphics were good not the best but better than i thought they would be.

8/10

Music

The Soundtrack was amazing I would sometimes just sit there listening the music no worry in the world.

10/10

Entertainment

The Game at times was slow and daunting with nothing more to do than search for medallions scattered around the world, and completing what seemed to me to be pointless tasks though some of that might have been to me displeasing, a new area with new creatures was always around the corner soon to be discovered.

9/10

Replayability

After death the world starts anew with an amusing twist where characters can be remade and the journey experienced a second time. Same level and same equipment from when you ended made an easy run through of the story. With 9 Classes to choose from each one is fun and different from the next leaving a new strategy and a new way to play.

10/10

Overall
8.5/10

Personal Score 9.5/10  This Game Is A Must

Drawbacks

Rare items must be used for fast travel, spending half of the game getting somewhere tumbling over the bodies strewed across the floor from the thousandth time you've crossed the same path killing the same goblins, makes this game a long one, but with that said killing many small creatures eventually you'll level up.

Pawns may learn of the environment, creatures and quests but they do not learn about how you fight, with no strategic radial menu pawns would do as they see fit and annoy the crap out of you because of that. WHY DON'T YOU USE FIRE WHEN I'M COVERING THEM WITH OIL ARROWS YOU STUPID PIECE OF PAWN WHY DON'T I JUST SACRIFICE YOU TO THE DRAGON AND LAUGH AWAY MY PAIN! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

The Limited use of stamina when running made getting somewhere tedious but as running may be faster it does leave you vulnerable to attack. (Not complaining about use of stamina in the world when running but it is something some people could have a problem with.)

New GeekBeerz video, PS Vita reveal

It may seem like we never care to put up videos and stuff, but in reality we have a major backlog of Videos in need of editing. Luckily, I was able to finish one.

This video is roughly two-three months old so it's not too terribly late. This one is similar to Shrew's 3DS review except that I was finally able to keep the Audio in it. While a little blurry and shaky around the edges, and having average audio,  it's a fairly decent video for what we're able to pull off.

This video was made when Geoff, Shrew, and I were already acting ridiculous for no reason. Bergy was unable to attend for being under house arrest.

Hopefully more videos will be on soon... [more videos are on Youtube, just type in GeekBeerzTAG]

Special GeekBeerz opportunity: Ask us Anything!

On this particular Post, Geoff thought it would be a good idea to do something new to our next episode. Please give us questions!

You can ask us anything as long as it isn't too stupid or too personal. It can be about the past, present, future of GeekBeerz, it can be a question about one of the four of us, heck it can be about our favorite color... we don't really care!

Once questions are published in the comments, we will answer all of them in our next upcoming Podcast episode 10. You have until the 24th...

Please take the opportunity to ask whatever, we might not be doing something like this later on in future episodes...

Possible game plans on hold for a little while + announcement

We have not made a clear decision yet amongst ourselves, but we do wish to further inspect the possibility. Meaning that any project of the sort will be put on hold for now. This is mostly due to members Shrew and Bergy having to know more about what was spoken amongst me and Geoff.
It also has to do with a couple ideas that people brought up, and how we'd incorporate that into the original plan, assuming we do attempt to make a game.

Whatever we decide, we'll let everyone know. As for other news, we have an announcement:

Shrew and Geoff will be going to PAX 2012 in Seattle!!!!
They were able to get two tickets and a hotel room just in time. While Me and Bergy were sadly unable to get our own tickets, we are not completely out of the game. Because Shrew and Geoff will chronicle their adventure by special podcasts and possible videos for us to put onto the website! They leave last week of August when the event essentially begins.

GBP episode 10 planned for the 24th

I figured it best to keep others on track of our initial plans too. While we were unable to do a podcast for a long while, or on 4th of July, the four of us have decided to plan a podcast night for the 24th of July.

Now this doesn't mean that the actual episode will be available on the 24th, but due to demands we'll have to edit the episode asap.

New Assassin's Creed III trailer for 4th of July!

Now it ain't something that shows new gameplay footage, or anything hugely worthwhile, but it's still nice of Ubisoft to give us a 4th of July treat!

Also, happy 4th of July everyone!

This game comes out October 30th for PS3 and 360, Later for Wii U...

What the Crap is going on with Pokemon Black 2 and White2???

Conquest just recently came out and was fairly appraised, now next up are Game Freak's very first handheld main series sequels, Pokemon Black 2 and White 2.

What's new? they just announced that these two games will be coming out this year on October 7th! And through our silence about this game, many new creature forms have surfaced. Kyurem isn't the only one getting extreme makeovers.

Here is a picture of the legendary flying type Pokemon Tornadus, the similar creature to the right is his new sacred beast form. This form is technically not available within the game but through it's side game called Dream Radar. This form will be called the Therian form when it hits the states.
Here is the Electric legendary Thundurus, with his sacred beast form (Therian form) that is also only obtainable through Dream Radar.
Same thing goes for Landorus and his Sacred Beast form (Therian form)...
And then there's the Water/Fighting Legendary Keldeo. His form isn't too worth mentioning because there's not much of a change with it (hence the reason there is only one pic of him).
His Resolution form has him with a Larger mane and a Larger horn, aaaand that's it. However, in this form he can learn the move "Sacred Sword". How to obtain this form is still a mystery.

Be sure to look for the sequels on October 7th for the Original DS...

Want to get the Limbo Boxed edition?

Limbo is an interesting little game that has greatly grown popularity. Playdead just announced a Boxed edition for PC, hooray!

Boxed edition includes DRM-free PC and Mac versions of the game, a standalone soundtrack, seven art cards, a boy sticker, a Steam gift key, and a pair of 3D glasses. It retails for $24.99, and is available from Amazon and other retailers.

Anyone who just heard of this game or has always had interest to play it, twenty whatever bucks is not bad at all. Again, this is available now...

Total War: Rome II's Live-action Trailer

Total War: Rome II is Creative Assembly's new RTS for PC. The game's purpose is to sink players into the dangerous political machinations of Rome's senate, while asking them to struggle with family dilemmas and question the loyalty of 'friends' and allies. There's only one thing to ask about such a game:
How far will you go for Rome?

Game comes out sometime early 2013...

High Moon studios will make a Marvel game

High Moon has been busy making Transformers games for the last three to four years, now it's time for something new.

We won't know much until this years comic-con, but High Moon will be announcing what it is. Any guesses?
Other Marvel game to make an appearance are Gazillion entertainment's Marvel Heroes MMO and Ubisoft's Avengers: Battle for Earth.

High Moon proved that they can take a licensed product and turn it into an excellent game[s], so can High Moon also make an excellent Marvel game???
