TMNT VS the Guardians of the Galaxy

Following yesterdays announcement, the Liebesman/Bay Ninja Turtles reboot film has been pushed back. Now instead of releasing in June, it will release August 8th 2014.

This was made so that Bay's other film, Transformers 4, wouldn't have to compete with the turtles (maybe because Godzilla comes out that June as well). However now the film has to compete with Marvels Guardians film which releases a week earlier on August 1st.

Which will win? Turtles has a fan base on its side but the film decisions made for this reboot has pissed fans off to the bone, Guardians has the whole MCU on its side and Disney to advertise but it is a new story with lesser known heroes. I can personally say that Guardians is looking absolutely promising, but mostly because we have gotten leaked footage and information. So who knows? White Shredder or a Talking Raccoon with a Cockney accent? You decide.

The Wolverine Quickie Review

The Badger with claws returns...

Story:
Wolverine returns in a sequel-spin off film that doesn't hurt as bad as X Men Origins: Wolverine, basically the Wolverine we've been waiting for.

 Cast:
While Hugh Jackman may be the only familiar face in the film, every other actor does their parts fairly well.

Effects:
This isn't a cgi heavy film like most movies nowadays. However, when there is cgi, it does seem to work well. Silver Samurai in particular looked good in my opinion.

 Entertainment Value:
No like the original X Men trilogy, but certainly not like the Origins film either, Wolverine is THE Wolverine we've been waiting for!

Final Rating:
8.5/10

Iron Man 3 Quickie Review

Released on May 2013
Story:
The story delivers even more than the second film, there's even a major plot twist that you may or may not like but should nevertheless affect your enjoyment of the film.

Cast:
Robert Downey Jr. always shines as the famous Tony Stark, other cast members also do a great job especially Ben Kingsley and even Don Cheadle this time around.

Effects:
The new suits still continue to be better than the last one.

Entertainment Value:
Despite certain fan opinions, all comic book fans can find enjoyment in this one. Even fans of just the actor can enjoy this. However, this sequel is more serious in tone if anyone is against that.

Final Rating:
9.0/10

Opinion: how Marvel should continue the MCU

http://cdn3.whatculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/001202.jpg

Marvel has definitely done something that no movie company (Warner Bros., Fox, Sony, etc.) has ever dreamed of doing. They have created a shared cinematic universe, aptly named the MCU for short, in which all the heroes live within the same universe and eventually team up together.

This has worked well with their phase 1 set of films (which include Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: the First Avenger, and the first Avengers film), especially since the Avengers became the third highest grossing film of all time in 2012. Phase 2 will be including the likes of Iron Man 3, Thor: the Dark World, Captain America: the Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the second Avengers film, and each film is expected to do as well as the last.

Iron Man 3 is currently doing very well and is the second highest grossing film of the Marvel films currently, despite a few complainers about the third film's "plot twist" (which in my opinion was a shocking surprise in a good way, which in return works for a movie trying something different).

Now we are unsure to what will happen in the next planned movies in the MCU, but many fans and geeks (like us) have been continuously guessing and coming up with pretty good ideas to where the universe can go with it's phases. For those who don't know, Marvel currently has three phases planned which means there will be three Avengers movies. From what we can only speculate by what Kevin Feige, Joss Whedon, and the directors of the solo films tell us, how could, and probably should, the Marvel movies proceed to move?

So I'm an Idiot

I could have just edited the older post, but I felt a new post was necessary. I actually forgot about another Super flick that's coming out this year! How I forgot it I'm not quite sure, could be the lack of trailers for it.
But it's the Wolverine film!

This film will be cool because it takes place sometime AFTER X-Men 3: the Last Stand, which is the first film in the series so far to do that! The story follows Wolverine (obviously again played by Hugh Jackman) who journeys to Japan to learn the ways of the Samurai, which is based after a comic story with the same premise. While X-Men Origins: Wolverine did a lot of things wrong, like destroying the Deadpool character, this film looks to be avoiding all those problems and has less to do with overload of supers and more about true character development.

This film comes out in June...

So now I'm going to put this film on the poll so it can also have a fighting chance, sorry about that guys : /
(EDIT): never mind, Blogger won't allow me to edit the poll without erasing all the votes :(

Quite Obvious: Iron Man is Boss! New Poster and Trailer out on March 5th!!!

Nerds, prepare thy selves. It is time to see one of the coolest posters for a Marvel film that we have ever seen thus far!
Usually Marvel has had a hard-ish time trying to make posters of their films that impress moviegoers and fans. Quite a few disliked the posters advertising the Avengers back before that came out (which obviously didn't affect the Billion dollar making movie's success) but finally we have a poster that not only reveals all sorts of awesome, but it also makes those poster whiners shut up for once (seriously, these guys actually think posters affect the actual film).

With the rumors of what happens in the next and final new trailer for the film, which comes out March 5th, this poster actually helps those rumors to be well... true. Rumors about the next trailer will reveal the infamous Iron Legion, which is basically all of Tony Stark's suits, fighting the entire Mandarin army, how freaking cool does that sound!? Now considering that the newest Iron Man armor is the Mark 47, that means the possible legion will be a 46 man army! (I'm including War Machines suit too since he has the new patriot suit now). What armors can we expect to see though? Well maybe this very recent image will give you an idea:
These suits have quite the characteristics to each one. Assuming that this pictures is legit, which seems to be the obvious case, then I cannot wait to see what each suit does in the potential epic showdown! We can clearly see the old Mark III, V, and War Machine suits as well as the new Mark 47. But what are all the other suits? Well the suit on the top left looks to have whip like things coming out of the hands, which could possibly a suit based after the same whip technology used by Whiplash in Iron Man 2! There will also be the long rumored Deep Space suit which can be clearly seen in the new poster. But here is also an image of it here:
Another believed suit is the HeartBreaker suit which just looks outstanding enough as it is!:
The final suit (below) has only been seen in this still image and is the most controversial suit on the net! This is possibly the Hulk Buster armor and it may very well be in the film and possibly part of Iron Legion. Not many people like this particular suit, actually quite a lot don't, and I can clearly understand why. But then again, it's not like we've seen it in action yet! So if it is real then I'll hold my breath until more stuff about it comes along:
I bet everyone else who knows Marvel better can tell us what all the other suits might be, but what kinds of suits / what suits does anyone else want to see in the third and possibly final Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man film?

Poll: Which Super Flick will be the Best!?

Everyone who complains about a multitude of hero films every year should really shut up now. With Marvel's Avenger related plans and DC's upcoming plans, we can expect to see Supers on the big screen for eons to come!

This year we have four big screen premieres for Supers, three sequels and one a reboot. Which ones do you think will dominate in terms of fanbase, box office, whatever?

IRON MAN 3 (releases May 3rd 2013)

Iron Man 3 is the first film to bring about the second Phase of Pre-Avenger solo films after the events of the first Avengers film, so it clearly has a lot to live up to. Both Marvel and Disney have done quite an awesome job at keeping a majority of plot points secret, even in their trailers and such. The simple fact of knowing Tony Stark's true, original arch nemesis, the Mandarin is going to appear is more than enough to make fans rush to the theaters. Also the simple fact that this third entry is quite easily the darkest film made yet (in the Iron Man franchise that is) makes it all the more intriguing.
Like I said, this film has a lot to live up to and so far it looks to be keeping its promise. Will it be bad? Doubt it. Heck even Marvel's lowest and weakest money making film in the series, the Incredible Hulk, was still an awesome film despite being the weakest when compared to the other films in the Avengers line up. And while a few didn't exactly like the second Iron Man film (why!? I'll never know or understand) this third one will be sure to dominate!

KICK-A$$ 2 (releases June 28th 2013)
Yes, we are including this film too. The simple fact that every single human who has witnessed the first one loves it is enough to make a worthy sequel. It's also awesome to see they have the entire cast back as well as newcomers Jim Carrey (as Colonel Stars and Stripes) and Donald Faison (as Dr. Gravity) as well as many others. While no trailer or teaser has surfaced yet (as far as I know) we can still be assured a movie as awesome and as funny as the original.

This will be a great film and make good money, but it won't be as great compared to the other films. Why? It's clear that this film will most likely be another R rating. R rated films almost always never make the same amount of money as other ratings do simply due to the restrictions and maturity. While on a small occasion a film that's R rated could make great money at the box office, the possibilities are never that high to begin with. So while I hope the film dominates, it may be doubtful when this film is the only non-Marvel / non-DC super flick to take on tough competitors. Again, that's just a matter of opinion.

MAN OF STEEL (releases June 14th 2013)
Here is DC's ultimate coin toss. The superman reboot should surely capture the appeal of audience, and not just because Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and Christopher Nolan (the Dark Knight trilogy) are making it happen. Superman has literally not had a good movie since the first film (from waaay back in the 70's I believe) and many people were devastated with the Superman Returns film, which tried to continue where the older films left off. But now we finally have a rebooted coming. Will it succeed the super's bad past or will it join the bad roster?

The film looks to be brilliant in my opinion, it seems to have that same serious origin feel that helped Batman Begins become an excellent beginning of a trilogy. I personally believe this is what DC should now and forever make, awesome origin stories and complete trilogies for each of their DC heroes, none of this "Justice League because we're intimidated by Marvel's Avengers" crap. But personally I fear that this film will for the brief weeks of its release, fail to make money due to the scars from Superman Returns. Then again, Hulk was in a similar mess after Ang Lee's horrendous film, but he managed to get out of the gutter. So maybe, just maybe...

THOR THE DARK WORLD (releases November 8th 2013)
The first Thor film had to succeed by making us believe this universe can exist with Iron Man's and Captain America's, which it definitely did! Now the sequel has to successfully introduce the other six realms into the
universe (nine realms total like the Norse Mythology, three have already been introduced). We can easily expect an awesome fantasy adventure headed our way, why? Because the brilliant creator of the Game of Thrones TV series is directing this bad boy! Having Christopher Eccleston  as Malekith the accursed also rocks!

There is easily no flaws I see in this since the biggest possible flaw was saved in the first film. The only real flaw I can see is having this film release in November. Sure fantasy films are great for the winter months but this is seen as a Super flick! I don't think a Super hero film has ever even been released in the winter, has there?

So which super movie do you think will be your favorite this year? Which ones can you not wait for? Which do you think in any particular reason will dominate this year? Please vote in the poll or comment!

STAT is in the House!

I admit, when it comes to the designing and drawings I've done for this site I haven't really put any real effort into them. Not as much as I now do with my comics.

Say hello to STAT, it is a mini mock company that me and a old friend of mine named Tyler Robb created, Shrew also gave input and even inspired various designs. The company is suppose to be a comic and graphic novel company similar to the likes of Marvel, DC, or even Dark Horse comics. The only difference being that it's not just superheroes and dark tales, but more comedic and filled with very colorful and original tales and even spoofs. Possibly the longest going series would be my TAD comics, which tell the tales of all of us here in our own misadventures.

Basically, the mock company was meant to be something or somewhere that anyone can go to and give their own inspirations and ideas, and they would be able to bring their ideas out into the world. We have had many artists and authors come about, quite a lot of weird ones mostly, and most of them have even inspired characters and locations, and especially good jokes.

Well now STAT will more than likely be moving in with its cousin GeekBeerz very soon! This is mostly to bring a completely New element into the website while also being able to have all things in one convenient place to work on. I can't personally say when this will officially happen. But I can assure you that it will be worth it!

the Wolverine and Man of Steel trailers to be unleashed with the Hobbit! [UPDATE]

The Hobbit is coming out in just four weeks to make us nerds jizz our pants with joy. But now even better things our coming our way, for both Marvel and DC fans!

While we still originally expect to have the trailer for the J. J. Abrams Star Trek sequel, Star Trek into Darkness, it has now been revealed that we're actually getting not only the first trailer for the new Wolverine movie but also a new trailer for the Man of Steel too! We're not sure the time length and expectations with these trailers (like we do with the Star Trek sequel), but we expect to be fully satisfied.

The Wolverine is a new take on the ongoing X men character and tells his story AFTER the events of X Men: the Last Stand. Where he is to travel to Japan and learn the ways of the samurai, much like it is in his comic book lore. The film comes out July 27th 2013.

Man of Steel is the new take on Superman, which also goes into a more serious tale and Nolan's Batman style to it. It is also said to have a stronger alien influence too. Their goal is to make sure fans of the hero get the full and well deserved treat they deserve. This film comes out the 14th of June 2013.

And just because it was mentioned, J. J. Abrams Star Trek sequel brings back the original cast from his first Star Trek reboot, as they go off on a new adventure that is sadly undisclosed at this time. This film comes out the 17th of May 2013.

Does anyone else realize that we have four superhero films coming out next year? We got Superman, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Thor in 2013! Wow!

Until next time...

[UPDATE] Turns out there will not be a trailer for Wolverine until early 2013, as confirmed by the films director. But we can still look forward to a new Man of Steel trailer and even Star Trek 2...

Pick your favorite Iron Man Mark!

Iron Man changes his suit more then Hank Pym changes his hero name, but each new suit brings something new and inviting to Stark.

While we wait for the Mark XLVII suit, which will more then likely be the Extremis suit, why dont we take a look at his older mark and find out which ones were the best and coolest. Heck, let us add in War machine's suits for the fun of it.

MARK I: the Tin Man
During the months of being held in captivity by the Ten Rings, Tony Stark secretly built the Mark I in order to successfully escape. This Mark is very old school and not shiny or perfect like his other suits. Weapons include the flame thrower and rocket launcher, it can also use jet boosters for flight, but only once and for a very short time. Most mech pieces are outside of the suit as opposed to being inside, which makes those pieces more vulnerable. However it can still put up a fight in combat. It also has no Jarvis or advance technology, which makes it safe from being controlled or overrun by technological based villains like Ultron.

MARK II: Shiny Metal Knight
Mark II was basically the prototype or demo for the Mark III, it pretty much has all the same functions as the Mark III and IV and the only real difference is the fact that Mark II is not painted. It's really only when Rhodes gets the suit that it actually becomes interesting.

WAR MACHINE (Mark II.5)
The Mark II eventually becomes reconstructed as the War Machine suit. Now the suit has lots and lots of guns! It also has more armor build around the arms, chest, and shoulders. He has his iconic gatling gun on his back, as well as machine guns and hidden pistols on his arms. He also has a hidden missile called "the ex-wife" that sadly does absolutely nothing. He is able to pretty much shoot all his guns at the same time with close to perfect targeting. And above all else, he still has the regular Iron Man weapons like his arc reactor and stuff. Also, does anyone else like the red glow around the eyes and arc reactor instead of the regular blue?

MARK III and IV: Gold and Hot Rod Red
The main look(s) when you think about Iron Man. Mark III was quickly built after a successful test run with Mark II, and used to save civilians from the Ten Rings and to battle the Iron Monger villain. The suit introduces the shoulder missiles and wrist rockets. The suit also uses the chest unibeam for the first time in the Iron Man films. Mark IV is basic the Mark III, with only some very minor and barely noticeable paint apps to the body (mainly just some gold lining on the stomach metal).

MARK V: Suitcase Win!

The Mark V is easily one of the more unique. It acts more like a "emergency" suit for trouble on the road, those times where an enemy comes by and you don't have access to the suits at home. This suit transforms from a brief case and completely plates the entire body. It is unfortunately a weaker suit, having thinner armor and limited weapons to use. Then again the idea is strong and could lead to stronger/better suits using the same kind of function in the future.

MARK VI: the New Element
Probably the more iconic look now than the Mark III (and IV I guess), the Mark VI is unique because it was the first suit to try out the new element, the successor to the arc reactor, and also introduces the multi-fire grenade launcher and the infamous laser weapons, which completely owned the Hammer Drones in the second film. The new element is established by the triangular shaped chestplate that replaced the usual circular one. The suit was used to help defeat Hammer Drones and Whiplash, it also helped save the Hellicarrier from a surprise attack planned by Thor's brother Loki.

MARK VII: let's go Avenging!
We can essentially agree on the fact that this is more so his War suit than the other ones. The Mark VII takes all the good qualities from the other suits to use in the heat of battle, like the Laser weapon and repulsers and mini missiles. It uses a similar idea to the Mark V to transform and consume the body, only instead of a suitcase it's a launch pod that detects silver wrist straps using laser technology. The armor is much more bulky and can handle harder attacks than the other suits can. It may be good to point out that the suit cannot handle space travel.

WAR MACHINE MARK II: War Patriot? Patriot Machine?
Now we're getting to the new suits for the third film, where our only knowledge about them is their looks and possibilities. That Iron Patriot looking suit has been confirmed to be War Machine's new look, and we got no problem with it! It makes sense seeing as how James Rhodes is a captain of the Air Force of the United States, and maybe he's a Captain America fan? Regardless, this is happening and will be seen on the big screen. It appears as though he replaced all his weapons from his original design with new ones, now he has some rifle/laser gun looking thing instead of a gatling gun. His weapons will probably be much stronger too, his original weapons were given to him by Justin Hammer, made by his company Hammer Tech, and this time they will easily be weapons designed by Tony so they should be far more advanced.

MARK XLVII: Extremis!!!
Screw Mark VIII - XLVI, we're heading straight to the Mark XLVII! This suit has the same classic colors but obviously with more gold than red. And from what has been said online and through rumors and other sources, this will actually be his Extremis suit! A suit that grows entirely out of Tony Stark's skin through nano technology, how freaking cool! There are some questions and concerns however, most due to how different this suit will actually be. Will he still use original weapons, and new weapons? Will he still have communication with Jarvis? And how graphic and detailed will it be to see his suit grow in and out of his skin? And why more gold and less red?

Which one is your favorite? While we have no real clue for what the Iron Man 3 armor has in store, we can still get a pretty good assumption from what they will offer, plus there are the other suits too. Please comment or pick your favorite in the poll.

Iron Man 3 will start MCU phase 2, and hit theaters May 3rd, 2013...

Iron Man 3 armor!!! / another Hulk movie???

When it comes to doing movie news, we here might only end up writing about scary, action, or superhero flicks. Especially with news like this!

Concept art was released to show off the new suits of Iron Man/Tony Stark (played of course by Robert Downey Jr.) and War Machine/James Rhodes (being played once again by Don Cheadle) which we will see in the next third installment. Iron Man's suit, this time around, is the Mark XLVII (how did he go from the Mark VII to the Mark XLVII???? he's been busy!) and it will have more gold color this time around. The suit is suppose to literally grow out of his skin, like in the Extremis storyline (which the third film is closely following), so that is pretty sweet! War Machine's suit is basically the Iron Patriot suit (which was originally assumed to actually be a secondary villain in this film, but was later proven false). Perhaps his suit is a hint to a possible storyline involving Iron Patriot himself? Check out the art below:

A bit more "colorful" than expected right? While there is some pointless fan backlash at these new looks, I personally and Honestly like the crap out of these new looks! Iron Man's will easily look awesome, especially if it does grow out of his skin, and to me it looks more like a suit made of science if that's even possible. War Machine's suit definitely went a strange route, and Director Shane Black is definitely making a daring move, but it kinda makes sense for Rhodes to go with those colors. James Rhodes does seem a bit more "patriotic" than that of Iron Man (see what I did there?) and if there is to be an Iron Patriot storyline in the future for Iron Man 4, 5, etc., where else is the suit gonna come from? And who knows, maybe Rhodes is a die hard fan of Captain America, so he painted his suit for inspiration? The reasoning can go anywhere.

In other News

It's obvious that out of all the superheroes in the Avengers film this year, Hulk is the one that stole the show in the end. It would be pretty stupid for Marvel not to make another Hulk film, who cares if the other Hulk films underwhelmed at the box office? Avengers Hulk has everyone basically re-convinced! Kevin Feige had this to say about another Hulk film: “Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in ‘Avengers’? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until ‘Avengers 2.’ So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”

He also hinted at possible storylines that the film could use: “I don’t think there’s a lot that we couldn’t do someday, as the cinematic universe continues to grow and expand and get as big as the comic book universe. ”Planet Hulk’ is a cool story, ‘World War Hulk’ is a cool story. I think there’s pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself [with those cosmic projects]. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I’d say everything is on the table.”

How cool would it be to see a live-action Planet Hulk movie!? Or even World War Hulk? It sucks that it won't be happening until after Avengers 2, but hopefully Hulk will still make an appearance in Avengers 2 and as long as they have Mark Ruffalo return I'll have no problem with their plans.

To keep track: Iron Man 3 comes out in May, and Thor: the Dark World in November 2013. Captain America: the Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, an possibly Ant-man in 2014. Then we have Avengers 2 coming in 2015, and we can all assume another Hulk sometime afterwords...

High Moon also making a Deadpool game!?

Perhaps Hit Monkey was just a Decoy, cause High Moon and Activision made it official that a Deadpool will be getting his own game in 2013... Justice has been served!!!

Deadpool, as most Marvel and super hero fans know, is a hilarious Assassin anti-hero who always makes jokes, brutal kills, innuendos, and has never been shy of breaking the 4th wall. By the looks of this wicked awesome new announcement trailer, Deadpool will get the game he rightfully deserves.

The game will be made by High Moon, the makers of the Cybertron (Transformers) games, and published by Activision. Expect the game to release in 2013...

High Moon's Marvel game revealed: Hit Monkey

High Moon finally revealed what Marvel game they are making, and it isn't a real recognizable comic series.

Hit Monkey is like Rocket Raccoon, an animal character that is cool and not stupid like Howard the Duck. Hit Monkey follows the tale of a  Japanese Macaque Monkey that learns deadly traits by watching an unnamed human hitman that was ironically saved by Japanese Macaque Monkeys after a failed assassination. Eventually the Monkey's clan was all wiped out by a group of men and this lone monkey killed all the men using traits it learned from the hitman. After that, the Monkey dedicated its life to killing assassins - under the alias of Hit-Monkey.
It's not one we thought would be High Moon's secret Marvel game, but given the good story premise and the fame of Marvel, as well as how well High Moon has proven to take care of a licensed franchise, Hit Monkey could become an excellent and well known game in the long run.
Hit Monkey will release sometime in 2013...

High Moon studios will make a Marvel game

High Moon has been busy making Transformers games for the last three to four years, now it's time for something new.

We won't know much until this years comic-con, but High Moon will be announcing what it is. Any guesses?
Other Marvel game to make an appearance are Gazillion entertainment's Marvel Heroes MMO and Ubisoft's Avengers: Battle for Earth.

High Moon proved that they can take a licensed product and turn it into an excellent game[s], so can High Moon also make an excellent Marvel game???

Marvel Heroes MMO gets a new Trailer / the next Diablo?

Yep, Marvel has left Sega and now they are showing their new upcoming MMO game. The game is being developed by Gazillion entertainment and directed by the creator of Diablo himself, David Brevik.

Of course, everyone is going to be too preoccupied playing Diablo III to get excited for this right now. But this will be one of the five major MMO titles to get excited for in 2012, with Diablo III and Star Wars: the Old Republic (both successful, Diablo more so) we also have this game releasing as well as God Slayer (being developed by Changyou and Crytek) and we still have the Transformers Universe coming around the corner.

Here is the trailer reveal for Marvel Heroes, It may seem too much like Ultimate alliance but the gameplay seems very much like Diablo:
